Jeffrey S. Farroni, PhD, JD joined the faculty of M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, in September 2012, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Critical Care and Clinical Ethicist in the Section of Integrated Ethics in Cancer Care. Dr. Farroni received a Doctoral degree in Medical Science from Texas A&M University. His research focused on the subunit composition and pharmacology of strychnine-sensitive glycine receptors in the adult rat amydgala. Dr. Farroni has worked both in academics and the private sector; including a role as a Senior Clinical Scientist for a company that manufactures an implantable neurocybernetic prosthesis used to treat refractory epilepsy and treatment-resistant depression. He finished a clinical ethics internship at MD Anderson and prior to returning, completed a fellowship in Translational Research Ethics at UTMB Galveston. He also has a law degree from the University of Houston. Dr. Farroni has a faculty appoint in the Institute for Translational Sciences and is an Associate Member of the Institute for the Medical Humanities at UTMB Galveston.

His role at MD Anderson involves serving as a clinical ethicist for the Clinical Ethics Consultation Service, providing ethics education and training, contributing to interdisciplinary rounds. His interests include humanistic approaches to clinical and research ethics, interdisciplinary collaboration, health law & policy and personalized medicine & targeted therapeutics.
