In October 2016, Professor William Winslade, JD, PhD started a lecture series titled, "The Birth, Life and Death of the Brain." Speakers in their respective fields have been invited to give presentations to the general public on the lifespan of the brain. The series began with consciousness and will end with brain death. This series will span approximately 2 1/2 years and is funded through the Robert and Russell Moody Foundation. The lectures have been well-received and many of the speakers have been invited to speak at local Galveston schools as well as at the UTMB campus. All public lectures are taking place at the Moody Gardens IMAX Theatre.
