Abstract: Valid concerns about student learning, research impacts, and budgetary efficiency have moved evaluation beyond established systems of feedback and peer review towards the full-scale quantification of all types of academic performance, which are used to create college rankings, journal impact factors, faculty effectiveness ratings, and the like.  This talk explores the impact of pervasive quantitative auditing on educational activities in the public university context, and offers suggestions for how faculty, staff, and students might best respond.
